Frequently Asked Questions

How do I validate a ZIP code?
Enter any ZIP code or postal code in the validator tool. It checks format correctness, verifies the code exists in our database, and returns details about the associated location. Supports both US ZIP codes and international postal codes.
What makes a ZIP code invalid?
A ZIP code is invalid if it does not match the expected format (5 digits for US), is not assigned to any geographic area, or has been decommissioned by the USPS. Some numeric combinations are reserved and not used as ZIP codes.
Can I validate multiple ZIP codes at once?
Yes. Use the Bulk ZIP Verifier tool to validate up to 1,000 ZIP codes at once. Paste or upload a list of codes, and the tool will flag invalid, deprecated, or unrecognized entries.
Does the validator support international postal codes?
Yes. The validator supports postal code formats for 11 countries. It checks that the format matches the expected pattern for the selected country and verifies the code exists in our database.
What is ZIP code format validation?
Format validation checks whether a postal code matches the expected pattern for its country. For example, US ZIP codes must be exactly 5 digits (or 9 for ZIP+4), UK postcodes must follow the alphanumeric pattern, and Canadian postal codes alternate letters and digits.
