DPID

Delivery Point Identifier — an 8-digit code used by Australia Post to uniquely identify every delivery point in Australia.

The DPID (Delivery Point Identifier) is Australia Post's equivalent of the USPS delivery point code. Each DPID is an 8-digit number assigned to a specific mail delivery location — a residential letterbox, business mail slot, PO Box, or community mail bag. Australia Post maintains approximately 15 million DPIDs in its Postal Address File (PAF).

DPIDs are the foundation of Australia Post's address standardization and barcoding system. Mailers who include DPID barcodes on their mail qualify for automation discounts and faster processing. The DPID system also supports address validation services used by e-commerce platforms.

Unlike U.S. delivery points, which are derived from the ZIP+4 plus a 2-digit suffix, Australian DPIDs are standalone identifiers that do not embed the postcode.
